SeaPar Underwater 1200W HMI

The original underwater HMI's designed by Richard Mula and Pete Romano for the movie The Abyss, the SeaPar 1200W HMI has been extensively used in the motion picture and commercial industries on countless projects worldwide. This light made such a profound impact on the industry that in 1991, the lamp received a Technical Achievement Award from The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

The SeaPar lighting system passed NASA's Hazard Risk Assessment program for filming Michael Bay's feature film "Armageddon", and to date is the only underwater lighting to be allowed in NASA's "Neutral Buoyancy Lab" (NBL) in Houston, Texas. The lights have since returned to the NBL for a National Geographic shoot and Clint Eastwood's feature film "Space Cowboys".

For optimum safety, the SeaPar lamps and cables have been upgraded to feature our custom underwater mateable connectors incorporating an extended ground pin for "Mate First/Break Last" lamp grounding.
